Golden Afternoon stems from an intimate, symbolic reinterpretation of the world of Alice in Wonderland—conceived not as a fantasy setting, but as a transitional space between reality and the realm of dreams or imagination.
It is a reflection on losing and rediscovering our capacity for wonder. It offers a view of childhood as a state of consciousness—one in which we are still able to perceive nature as something alive, mysterious, and deeply connected to us.
Meditation or dreaming serves as a refuge; nature, as the bond; and childhood, as an inner place to which we can return.

A portrait born of my connection to classic tales—in this instance, Hans Christian Andersen’s "Thumbelina". Yet it was Cornelius—Don Bluth’s rendition from the film adaptation—who, alongside Thumbelina herself, shaped one of the most cherished imaginative worlds of my childhood.
I want to recapture the thrill of viewing the world through a child’s sensibility. Fairy tales were a gateway to a realm where the seemingly impossible could exist—a place where nature, love, and fantasy take on a sacred dimension. Thus, this work is a tribute to the stories that shape our inner worlds, and to that part of us which, even as we grow up, keeps searching for a place where reality is magical.

This is a drawing copy of an old photograph of the model with this name, Evelyn Nesbit. She was photographed by Rudolf Eickemeyer in 1901. It is a bust-length portrait with a neutral expression on her face, long hair covering her shoulders and passing over her chest and a headband of chrysanthemum flowers.
I am a lover of photography and the Pictorialist style. When I saw this portrait I was captivated by the magical and fairy-like aura of the model and the photograph itself.
